Release Notes July 2022

Release Notes July 2022

We’re constantly improving CADLearning to help our customers work smarter and faster.

Here’s a rundown of what’s new in July 2022.

New Functionality:

    • Updated Q help bot messaging
The help bot messaging has been updated to have better conversations with our customers.

    • Allow users to skip questions in assessments
Customers who guess on questions they don’t know have a chance of getting those questions correct. This would prevent the customer from receiving important feedback in the results, such as suggested lessons to watch.

    • Organization reports moved to top of home page
This is a small change but large improvement. Customers looking for reports will now find them right at the top of the CADLearning page, next to the Search bar.

Bug Fixes:

    • Error when attempting to Set All Payment Details on content subscriptions page

    • Terms of Service popup cannot be dismissed

    • In Chrome, “This website uses cookies.” message is transparent and can’t click button

How to Build a Custom Course

Align CADLearning content to your workflows and business goals by building custom courses.

To build a custom course, navigate to the Organization menu and look for the Custom Courses column. Click the Create button.

Give your course a name and enter a description. You can change both fields later if needed. Once you’ve entered your text, click Save.

Now that you’ve created your course, you can start building its structure. Only check the Active option when you’re ready to make the course visible to users. The workflow option is not in use at this time. Tags are optional and make your course discoverable from the global search bar. If you make any changes, be sure to click the Save button!

A new menu becomes visible on the left where you define your course. The Structure tab is where you add content to the course. The column to the right is your course. It starts empty. The column to the left is where you select content to add to your course.

To copy existing content, begin by choosing a product from the drop-down menu. Next, select the version for the product. Finally, select the course to copy from. Once you select the course, you’ll see its contents.

Expand any topic to view the lessons.

Click and drag any topic over to your course structure on the right. When dragging, look for the blue indicator to see its placement before you drop.

Note: You can drag individual lessons as well using the orange icon – however be sure to place them inside a topic.

After adding content from a course, you can customize the layout in the right column. Rearrange lessons, remove lessons, rename topics, create new topics, and more.

Use the orange plus sign icon to create new content in your course structure.

To add more content from another existing course, use the Back to Product Choice button in the left column to return to the drop-down options. Continue adding and adjusting content. Be sure to save your changes as you go.

The Products tab is where you define what product the course should be visible in from the library.

Select which product and version the course relates to from the drop-down menu. This is where your users will view it in the library. Once you select the product and version, click Add Product. Then click Save to capture your changes.

Note: To display your course in a separate tile you can create new Categories from the side menu. Categories are also known as products. This tab allows you to create a new one.

Remember to return to the details page and select Active when you’re ready to make the course visible.

The Assessments tab is where you add existing assessments to the course.

Note: You build a new assessment in another area.

Click the drop-down box to select the assessment you wish to add. This list will have every assessment affiliated with a course in the same product as your course. So, you’ll see several results. Each assessment name shows a list of courses it is already in to help you decide which to choose.

Pro Tip: Since you have curated a custom set of lessons for your course it would be best to create a new assessment for this course with questions dedicated to only those lessons.

How to Upload Custom Header Videos

Introduce a concept covered in a custom goal, add your why to our how-tos, and more by uploading custom header videos.

You’ll need a Microsoft Azure storage account with media services set up to get started. Then, you’ll provide your connection credentials to CADLearning to make a connection between the two for uploading files and processing videos. This ensures your proprietary content always remains separate and in your ownership.

For information about the required data for setup please email support@cadlearning.com.

Once you have Azure services connected, you’ll be able to upload custom video lessons. Lessons are created from the custom course structure tab.

To add a new lesson, open the Organization menu. Then, select the custom course you want to edit. From the structure tab, click the + icon next to the course title in the right column.

Enter a name for your lesson – the description field is optional. Click the Save button. Until you add the supporting details, you won’t want to make the lesson active yet.

Now that you’ve created your lesson, you’ll see several new tabs on the left side to help you build it.

The Details page is where you modify the lesson name, set its active status, add keywords for searching, and modify its optional description.

The Video tab is where you upload a video asset for your lesson.

The Content tab is where you add a script for scrolling narration.

The Commands tab links a lesson to Autodesk commands for use in CADLearning Assist.

The Products tab indicates which product the lesson covers.

The Questions tab is where you add questions for the lesson.

The Resources tab is where you upload required resources like exercise files.

Note: When creating a lesson for a video header you do not need to populate all these tabs. The upload of the video itself will be most important.

Once you’ve created custom lessons, you can add them to any custom goal you create as a header video. To do this, from the Organization menu, choose Learning Paths. Select the custom goal you would like to modify. In the menu to the left, choose Header Lessons.

Click the green Add Lesson button.

Search for the lesson you would like to add and then click the orange Add button to select it.

Click Save to capture your changes.

How to Build a Custom Goal

Ensure your users gain the skills to advance in their job roles by building custom goals with existing CADLearning medallions and badges.

The Structure tab is where you build a goal. You need to add the appropriate products to your goal before you begin adding structure. This defines which goals you choose from on the Structure tab.

To make it easier to build your goal, you’ll use our existing goals as a template. Select the Product – your options depend on the products you added on the Goal Products tab. Then, select a Goal for that product.

Next, add medallions to your goal by clicking and dragging them to the right, into your goal. Be sure to click the orange move icon to drag and look for a blue line to appear in the right column to indicate where it will be placed. Save your changes often.

Delete any badges you don’t want in your medallion using the delete icon. Continue adding medallions until you have everything you need. To choose from a different goal, click Save. Then, click Back to Product Choice and select a different product or goal.

Meet Your New CADLearning Experience

Meet Your New CADLearning Experience

Say goodbye to distractions and hello to a prioritized, contextual, and customized CADLearning experience. With our latest release, things might look a little different the next time you log in to your portal, but we think you’re really going to like what you see – and what you can do.

Bringing Roles and Goals to center stage

Your Roles and Goals are now front-and-center to make it easier to find and engage with the exact content you need. Looking for What’s Next in your learning journey? It’s still available on your home page. You’ll find it beneath your latest Pop Quiz, on the lower left side.

Ending your upskill battle faster

If you’ve already got what it takes to earn a role, goal, badge, or medallion, take an assessment to prove your skills. Any achievements you test out of will be visible on your profile page.

Connecting your why with our how-tos

A new knowledge-sharing capability is available for roles, goals, badges, and medallions – customizable header lessons.

For Enterprise customers, this functionality lets you embed your company’s unique perspectives into the learning experience. With header lessons, your teams learn the “why” behind the “how-to” and gain deeper insight into how their efforts achieve business objectives.

If available, header lesson videos can be previewed by hovering your cursor over the role, goal, badge, or medallion title. And when you start a learning segment with a header lesson, that video will automatically play first.

Taking customization to a new level

We’ve also unlocked access to customizable Roles and Goals for all Enterprise customers. This functionality now comes built right into your experience with no additional setup required.

Plus, we’ve made it even easier to create custom courses that align with your company’s workflows and objectives. As you create a course, you can add, remove, and reorder the lessons within it by simply dragging and dropping them – all within the same page.
